After taking a degree in English at University College London, I followed the Victorian Literature MA at Liverpool, graduating in 2008. I am currently working towards a PhD thesis which constructs a pathology of 1890s narcissism.
I came to Liverpool’s School of English in September 2006 to read Victorian literature after completing my BA at the University of Salford. I am currently writing a doctoral thesis that explores representations of inter-female intimacy in the work of Charles Dickens.
My research interests are centred around the literature and culture of the fin de siècle, particularly the intersection between economic thought and the literary text.
Having obtained my BA in English Literature and the History of Art, and my MA in Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds, I am currently studying for a PhD in the English Literature department at the University of Liverpool.
The subject of my doctoral research is the representation of the working-class man in Condition of England fiction (1840-1860). I am interested in the way in which authors of this genre craft their working class heroes in order to advance their own purposes, whether political or religious.
